No Talking For Two Whole Days For A Group Of 5th Graders? What Do They Do?

” We aren’t allowed to talk!?” said one of the 5th graders at Laketon Elementary school. “You’re Crazy!”

A problem in the book  No Talking, by Andrew Clements, is that the 5th graders at Laketon Elementary school are not allowed to talk. They’re not necessarily allowed to talk. The 5th graders at this school made a contest, no talking for two whole days, and it’s boys against girls.

The main problem is that they are not allowed to talk during school or out of school. The kids made a rule that you can only talk if a teacher asks you a question, and you can only use three words in a sentence. So it’s really hard for the 5th graders to answer a full question. The teachers are getting very suspicious.

The main characters, Lynsey and Dave, made up this contest between them two. If one them says one word then the loser has to walk around school with a big L ( loser ) on their forehead. So now it’s an even bigger problem because Lynsey or Dave don’t want walk around school looking like that.
